Sozopol is the oldest town on the Bulgarian sea-side. The first village here is established in the end of IV - III century b.c. Later Greeks from Asia established the town-country Apolonia. Apolonia was the biggest and the richest town on this sea side, center of a trading and arts.
The archeological museum in the town is established in 1961. In the halls of the museum is presented the history of the town and there are also beautiful collections of painted ancient Greek ceramics, stone anchors, coins and other ancient products of art.
